Will Serena Play More

Official word from the Serena’s agent – no more scheduled play for the rest of 2011!

It’s official, Serena’s agent Jill Smoller, confirmed to TENNIS.com that Serena is not entered in any more events this year.  Citing medical reasons, Serena, pulled out of mandatory tournaments Tokyo and Beijing.  (These events were mandatory because in 2010 Serena finished in the top 10.)  There are only two more weeks of play after Beijing concludes before the WTA Championships in Istanbul, which Serena has not qualified for.  Serena will likely end the season ranked somewhere around her current spot of No. 14, as she has no points to defend from 2010.

Pretty boring on the women’s side right now without those rocking Williams sisters! 😦   And the other women I follow are out of the game too;  Clijsters(injury), Sharapova (ankle), and Kvitova (who just can’t find a win since taking Wimbledon).

For the rest of 2011 guess I’ll be checking out the men…I mean…I’ll be checking out the mens game! 😉

Hoping both Serena and Venus take all the time that they need and
return to the WTA tour at their healthiest level possible!
